Location
Hokianga View is right by the Hokianga Harbour, only 50 metres from the beach. Within the quiet seaside town of Omapere, it's only a short drive to shops, cafés and restaurants in Omapere and Opononi.
Waipoua Forest and the historic settlements of the Hokianga are in easy reach, and it's only an hour to the Bay of Islands. You can take a day trip driving along 90 Mile Beach to Cape Reinga at the far northern tip of New Zealand, where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. Plenty of excitement, or a relaxing peaceful break - it's up to you.

Enjoy the Northland countryside!
Northland is a beautiful region, full of historical sites and tourist attractions. The historic Hokianga area is full of old settlements to explore.
Omapere and its neighbouring village of Opononi are quiet beachside villages and provide grocery shops, cafes and restaurants. You can walk along the beach to both Omapere and Opononi (at low tide).
A walking track leads to an old signal station on Arai te uru, the South Head. Take a boat trip across the harbour to the giant dunes where you can try dune surfing, or if you feel a game of bowls with balls up to 3 metres in diameter, take a walk on the beach between Koutu and Kauwhare points on the south shore of the Hokianga Harbour where you will find the Koutu Boulders.
Only half an hours drive away, the great Waipoua Forest is the country's most famous Kauri forest and the largest remaining tract of native forest in Northland. No visit to Waipoua Forest would be complete without paying respects to Tane Mahuta. This jaw-dropping giant is the largest living kauri in New Zealand. At over 2000 years old he is truly the ‘Lord of the Forest’.
The Bay of Islands is only an hour's drive, where you can explore the beautiful bay by boat, visit the historic settlements at Kerikeri or visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds with its amazing museum - the most important historic site in New Zealand.
Cape Reinga and 90 Mile Beach makes a great day trip.
